In the early 1960s, when Nigeria gained its independence, there was an undercurrent of peace.
In the south, the family of Olana and Kenene is a pair of twin sisters, but they are so different: sister Olana beautiful and rich, gentle and elegant, decent, like the exquisite crafts in the window, always the eyes of men to follow the object; Her sister, Kainene, was thin, aloof, sharp, always sullen, often sarcastic, yet confident and able. Against her parents' wishes, Olana follows the "revolutionary lover" Odenibo to teach at the university; Kenene runs the family business and is attracted to Richard, a British journalist. Different life choices have driven the two sisters apart.

Born in 1977 in the southern Nigerian city of Enugu into an intellectual family, he studied in the United States, studying communications and political science at Eastern Connecticut State University, before earning master's degrees at Johns Hopkins University and Yale University, respectively.
Her first novel, Purple Hibiscus, was nominated for the Orange Fiction Award in 2004, and her second novel, Half Round of Yellow Sun, won the Orange Fiction Award in 2007. The Thing Around the Neck was nominated for the 2009 Frank O 'Connor International Short Story Award. The Yank won the 2013 National Society of Book Critics Award for Fiction.
In 2014, she became famous for her TED talk, "We Should All Be Feminists."
