作者简介
罗家祥，湖北天门人。北京大学历史学博士，华中科技大学人文学院教授。1993—1995年加州大学伯克利分校访问学者。入选2005—2006年度中美富布莱特学者，并应邀赴哈佛大学东亚语言文明系进行为期一年的学术交流。研究领域侧重于宋代政治史和学术文化史。代表作有《朋党之争与北宋政治》《宋代政治与学术论稿》等，并主编有《华中国学》1—15辑。
The Dispute between the Friends and the Politics of the Northern Song Dynasty

This book is a classic work on the study of the party rivalry in the Northern Song Dynasty. The book takes Wang Anshi's reform as the key node, based on the old and new party struggles since Shenzong Xining, focuses on the history of party struggles in the past 80 years from Qingli to Jingkang, pays attention to its political focus, personnel changes and immediate response to the political situation, and carefully analyzes the actions of politicians and ruling groups in the middle and late Northern Song Dynasty, as well as the influence of the political situation on the foundation of dynastic rule. This paper explains the failure of Wang Anshi's reform and the alienation of scholar-officialdom politics, and reveals the inevitability of why scholar-officialdom politics is headed for deadlock. The book has solid historical materials, rigorous textual research, the author's writing is quite appealing, has a strong sense of narrative and readability, and can be used as an important reading for understanding the party struggle in the Northern Song Dynasty.
About the author
Luo Jiaxiang, from Tianmen, Hubei Province. Doctor of History, Peking University, Professor of Humanities, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. 1993-1995 Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. He was selected as a Sino-American Fulbright Scholar in 2005-2006 and was invited to the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations of Harvard University for a one-year academic exchange. His research focuses on the political history and academic and cultural history of the Song Dynasty. His representative works include "The Rivalry of Friends and Politics of the Northern Song Dynasty" and "Political and Academic Essays of the Song Dynasty", and he edited the "Huazhong Chinese Studies" 1-15 series.
