一九四八年生于爱知县名古屋市,早稻田大学政治经济学系毕业。大学期间创作的推理小说《变调二人羽织》获第三届“幻影城”新人奖,由此出道。一九八一年凭借短篇小说《菖蒲之舟》(收入短篇集《一朵桔梗花》)获得第三十四届日本推理作家协会奖,一九八四年以短篇集《宵待草夜情》获得第五届吉川英治文学新人奖,同年以描写两位女性复杂心理的恋爱小说《恋文》获得第九十一届直木奖。

Born in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture in 1948, he graduated from Waseda University, majoring in Political economy. The mystery novel "Changing tone two people Feather weaving" created during the university won the third "Phantom City" new talent award, thus making his debut. In 1981, he won the 34th Japan Mystery Writers Association Award for his short story "The Boat of the Flag" (in the short story collection "An Orange Blossom"), in 1984, he won the fifth Yoshikawa Eiji Literary New Talent Award for his short story "Night to Wait for Grass", and in the same year, he won the 91st Naoki Award for his love novel "Love Text" describing the complex psychology of two women.
