A brief introduction to Strangers in Cambridge
Liu uses experimental writing (blending realism, fiction, and history in one style) to trace and study the archetype of a character called Nesbit in Nabokov's autobiography, and the great concern behind it is the intellectuals who converged on Cambridge for various reasons in the first half of the 20th century (even up to 1919). The many aspects, details of their lives, interconnections and value choices that they are not known about, especially the left-wing group of scientists known as the Cambridge Gang. The book is filled with a variety of similar gossip, stained with a kind of ideological atmosphere in the first half of the 20th century and intellectuals either left or right direction choice.
