Introduction to Confucian China and its Modern Destiny
This book is the representative work of American historian Joseph Levinson. The book is divided into three volumes with a broad vision. It not only makes a profound analysis of the function mechanism of Confucianism/Confucian culture in traditional Chinese society and its interaction with imperial power and bureaucracy, but also focuses on the changes in politics, system, ideology and culture of modern China and the ups and downs of Confucianism in the course of history. With its grand structure and the importance of the issues discussed, it has become an unavoidable classic in the field of Chinese modern history research.
