渠敬东北京大学博雅特聘教授，社会学系博士生导师。主要著作有：《缺席与断裂：有关失范的社会学研究》、《现代社会中的人性与教育》、《自由与教育：洛克与卢梭的教育哲学》（合）、LaSociologuechinoiseavantlaRévolution（合）、《山水天地间：郭熙〈早春图〉中的世界观》《自然的神迹：成渠斋藏透纳版画》等。主编并翻译《涂尔干文集》（共10卷，商务印书馆），主编《山水》辑刊，合编《中国社会学经典导读》，《中国社会学文选》。
