A brief introduction to the Rabbit Effect

Marina Levesque is a kind and loving rabbit breeder who talks to, cuddles and pets her rabbits while feeding them. Her other identity is the "rabbit experiment" researcher. The experiment leader found that the healthier rabbits were all bred by Marina. They repeated the experiment with Marina's feeding regimen and found the same results, publishing their findings in the prestigious journal Science. And the rabbit is just the opening line to a much bigger story, which the authors of this book call the "rabbit effect."

As a professor of psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center in the United States, the author of this book offers us a new perspective on health: the factors that really improve our health are not in the hospital exam room, but hidden in the countless small moments of daily life.

Why do some people with normal physiological indicators feel unwell, while some people with diseases can lead almost normal lives?

Why do touching, hugging, and staring eyes have health effects beyond emotional attachment?

Why do some people still feel lonely in a crowded room?

Why is having a good boss equally important to avoiding illness?

Why is continuous learning itself good for health?

Why are people with a sense of purpose less likely to develop Alzheimer's disease?

...

The authors found that in addition to the rabbit experiment, the mouse licking experiment, the Rossetto effect and many other studies have shown that many factors affecting health are hidden, that is, love, friendship, community, learning, life goals and living environment. The author spends eight chapters combing through these factors and proving that they all hold the same secrets about health as those revealed in the Beloved Rabbit. The "toolkit" section at the end of each chapter combs through practical suggestions for improving health, such as hugging and snuggling more, volunteering, joining a book club, redefining success at work, learning a new skill, and so on, many times at no cost. Every little choice we make every day can nourish our health or exacerbate our stress. The moment you finish reading the book and decide to take positive action, the ripple effect on your health begins.
