樋口一叶（1872—1896）日本小说家，生于东京，本名夏子，一生贫寒，二十四岁因肺结核逝世。以井原西鹤式雅俗折中的文体描写了明治时期女性生活的动荡与悲哀，是开拓明治小说外延的重要作家。小说代表作包括《十三夜》《青梅竹马》《大年夜》等。逝世后出版的《一叶日记》亦享有极高声誉，受森鸥外、幸田露伴等文豪绝赞。
译者简介：
罗嘉，1993年毕业于日本国立京都教育大学美术系，译有《袈裟与盛远》《阿富的贞操》（芥川龙之介）、《中途下车》（宫本辉）、《一器一会》《东京日和》等。以独特的古典色彩传达着属于明治时代的韵味和风貌。

This book is a selection of short stories by Higuchi Ichiha, a Japanese writer of the Meiji era, and contains 11 of her best works. Higuchi writes in classical Chinese in a style that mimics Nishitsuru Ihara's eclectic style. Iyeh was poor all his life and his life was fleeting, but he became an important writer who developed the extension of Meiji novels with the energy burned out of his short life. Although her works are mostly about the turbulence and tragedy of women in The Times, her words are not weak, but full of tough strength and sober lament to see through the world. Her observations of the people of her time come with empathy from below, keenly aware of the very different outcomes of different classes of people in a changing world. The protagonists of these works include artisans who have been abandoned by The Times, maids who steal money for their families, and ordinary girls who have lost love. Most of their lives are tragic, but they all endure their fate with tenacity, ending in a light sadness.
About the author:
Higuchi Ichiha (1872-1896) was a Japanese novelist born Natsuko in Tokyo who lived in poverty and died of tuberculosis at the age of 24. Ihara Nishi Tashi, an important writer who developed the extension of Meiji novels, described the turmoil and sorrow of women's life in the Ming Dynasty in his elegant and vulgar style. His novels include Thirteen Nights, Childhood Sweethearts and Big Year's Eve. Published after his death, "A Leaf Diary" also enjoys a high reputation, and is highly praised by writers such as Mori Gouwai and Koda Lu.
About the Translator
Luo Jia, graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, Kyoto National University of Education, Japan in 1993, translated "Kasaya and Sheng Yuan", "Fu's Chastity" (Akutagawa Ryunosuke), "Halfway Off" (Miyamoto Fai), "One Organ", "Tokyo Hiwa" and so on. It conveys the charm and style of the Meiji era with unique classical colors.
