作者简介
伊恩·里德帕思（IanRidpath），英国作家、编辑，天文学和太空领域专家。他为业余天文学家撰写了《恒星与行星》《恒星》《每月天空指南》等一系列标准观测指南，并编辑了经典天文学图书《牛津天文学词典》《诺顿星图手册》。由于里德帕思为公众理解和欣赏天文学做出了杰出贡献，他获得了太平洋天文学会颁发的克伦普克-罗伯茨奖。里德帕思是英国皇家天文学会的会员，也是国际天文学联合会的成员。他的兴趣主要是收集古老的天文学书籍，尤其是星图。

The book details the story and history of 88 constellations and 24 abandoned constellations throughout the day, presenting a brilliant starry landscape woven in the spirit of science and romantic imagination. Author Ian Reedparth guides us through a maze of astronomy, literary allusions, ancient star charts and words, delving into the details of the stars and explaining the division, naming, mythology and evolution of each.
The book contains 107 rare classical star maps, with special additions to ancient Arabic and Chinese astronomy, showing the unique social and cultural structures projected by different civilizations in the starry sky.
About the author
IanRidpath is a British writer, editor, and expert in astronomy and space. He wrote a series of standard observational guides for amateur astronomers, including Stars and Planets, Stars, and Monthly Sky Guide, and edited the classic astronomy books, the Oxford Astronomical Dictionary, and the NORTON Star Map Manual. For his outstanding contributions to the public understanding and appreciation of astronomy, Reedpath received the Krumpk-Roberts Prize from the Astronomical Society of the Pacific. Reedparth is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and a member of the International Astronomical Union. His main interest was collecting old astronomy books, especially star maps.
