[德]温弗里德·塞巴尔德，德国作家、学者，1944年出生于德国，自1970年起定居英国，在东英吉利大学执教。2001年因车祸去世。曾获德国柏林文学奖、不莱梅文学奖、海因里希·伯尔文学奖、海涅文学奖等，著有《奥斯特利茨》《土星之环》《眩晕》《移民》《自然之后：一部元素诗》《未曾叙说》。

In this essay, Sebald focuses on six of his most cherished creators: the writers Johann Peter Hebel, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Edouard Merick, Gottfried Keller, Robert Walser, and the painter Jan Peter Tripp. Most of them are cursed by their fragile nature, suffer from the unfairness of life, and cannot stop writing even though writing has lost its pleasure and thinking has become torture.
Sebald, also a creator, finds solace and inspiration in the experiences of the six men, focusing on their strange and beautiful, painful and profound details, and painting their delicate and eccentric portraits. At the same time, he also mixed his own thinking into other people's lives, trying to find the meaning of creation in the chaotic and absurd reality. In the cross narrative of biography and self-understanding, readers can get a glimpse of Sebald's literary origin and spiritual world.

Winfried Sebald is a German writer and academic. Born in Germany in 1944, he has lived in the United Kingdom since 1970 and teaches at the University of East Anglia. He died in a car accident in 2001. He has won the German Berlin Literature Prize, Bremen Literature Prize, Heinrich Bohr Literature Prize, Heine Literature Prize, etc., and is the author of "Austerlitz", "Saturn's Rings", "Vertigo", "The Immigrant", "After Nature: An Elemental Poem" and "Untold".

Min Zhirong has a master's degree in German Language and Literature from Nanjing University and a Master's degree in Intercultural Germanic studies from Gottingen University. He is currently the head of the German Department at the School of Foreign Languages of Jiangsu Institute of Technology. He is the author of books such as Saturn's Rings and The German Planet.
