On Reddit, the fifth-largest website in the United States, the name of the most influential male forum is "TheRedPill." Its founding marked a new phase of online misogyny - a society in which men, especially straight white men, are being oppressed by women, not just by mocking and demeaning women.
They use classical images and classical writings to promote white racist propaganda, and see themselves as defenders of intellectual authority and inheritors of Western culture and civilization.
Social media has brought about an unprecedented democratization of information, but it has also created opportunities for men who hold anti-feminist views. Social media has taken misogyny to new levels of violence and malice.
About the author
DonnaZuckerberg (1987 -) is an American classicist. He received his Ph.D. in Classics from Princeton University in 2014. This is her first book.
