英国知名文学编辑、作家，1917年出生于英国诺福克，安德烈·多伊奇独立出版社的创始董事，被誉为“20世纪最杰出的编辑之一”。曾出版过玛格丽特·阿特伍德最早的三部小说、彼得·本奇利的代表作《大白鲨》、杰克·凯鲁亚克及诺曼·梅勒的作品、V.S.奈保尔的十八部作品、简·里斯的全部作品、菲利普·罗斯的前两部小说以及约翰·厄普代克的大部分作品等。
76岁退休后开始进行文学创作，撰写了小说及多部回忆录，其中《暮色将尽》获得科斯塔传记奖，从此声名远扬。她一生未婚，于2019年1月在伦敦一家临终关怀医院去世，享年101岁。

In this book, we follow Athill into the world of these literary giants of the post-World War II generation. The book is divided into two parts:
The first part tells how Athill graduated from Oxford University and went to work for the BBC News Agency, where he met the publisher Andre Deutsch and together they founded the legendary independent publishing house, Andre Deutsch Press. With unique wit and a prose style of rare frankness, she recounts the details of her long publishing career of five decades;
The second part focuses on recalling his contact with six authors, including Naipaul and Jane Rees, detailing the experiences and personality characteristics of these authors, which is a real and interesting anecdote of famous artists and a valuable contribution to literature.
About the author
Author: Diana Athill (1917-2019)
Born in 1917 in Norfolk, England, he is the founding director of the Independent publishing house Andre Deutsch and is known as "one of the most outstanding editors of the 20th century". He has published three of Margaret Atwood's first novels, Peter Benchley's masterpiece Jaws, works by Jack Kerouac and Norman Mailer, V.S. The eighteen works of Naipaul, all the works of Jane Rees, the first two novels of Philip Roth, and most of the works of John Updike.
After retiring at the age of 76, he began to write literary works, writing novels and several memoirs, including "Twilight", which won the Costa Biography Award, and has since become famous. She never married and died in a London hospice in January 2019 at the age of 101.
