"The Tooth Dilemma" 【 Content Introduction 】
In The Teeth Dilemma, you will read many disturbing stories. As a veteran journalist, Mary Otto seeks to use these stories to thread the history of American dentistry, reflect on the ills of the American health care system, and expose the truth behind the social inequalities. For example, dentists were reluctant to serve the poor because of low reimbursement rates, and a 12-year-old boy named Dimonte eventually died from an untreated tooth infection that infected his brain. Another example: beautiful teeth become a sign of success, celebrities spend a lot of money on "pearly white teeth", and many poor people find it difficult to find a job because of bad teeth... Behind the dental health crisis, it reflects the problems of a country, society and times.
This book is about dental problems in the United States, but it should be considered by people all over the world. For ordinary people who can't afford dental care, toothache is not an occasional minor problem, but a lifelong problem. We need to face up to the problem of teeth, but also need good public health policies, after all, good teeth are part of a healthy body, and health is a kind of happiness.
