At the age of 19, he was admitted to the journalism department of Fudan University, and later worked as a reporter of Hong Kong's "Wen Wei Po" for ten years. After that, he worked as a real estate planner, advertising partner, charter officer, poet, coffee shop manager and professional shovelling officer.
He drove nearly 10,000 kilometers across the United States in four summers and wrote a nonfiction work "North American Guest" that observed American society through interviews and field observations.
