After the First World War, avoiding a new conflict was perhaps the most common aspiration across Europe: "Not again!" This slogan resonated in the ears of Europeans, and this view would shape the future of Europe and become the core of the policy of appeasement pursued by the British.
Tim Buvery covers the period from Hitler's rise to power in 1933 to the pre-World War II period, and he shows the British government's hesitancy, diplomatic failure and parliamentary infighting during Nazi territorial expansion and other activities in Europe by reconstructing the British negotiations of "appeasement of Hitler".
