作者简介
卡特琳·弗利克舒，当代著名的康德研究学者，不列颠学院院士，先后任教于埃塞克斯大学、布里斯托大学、曼彻斯特大学，2003年起，任伦敦政经学院政治理论教授。研究方向为康德实践哲学、当代政治哲学，以及现代非洲哲学。主要著作有《康德与现代政治哲学》（2000）、《自由：当代自由主义观点》（2013）、《什么是全球思维的定位：康德式探究》（2017）。另与莱亚·伊皮合编《康德与殖民主义：历史性与批判性观点》（2015）。
徐向东，浙江大学人文学院哲学系教授，博士生导师。主要从事伦理学、政治哲学、早期现代哲学以及分析哲学的教学和研究。
Kant and Modern Political Philosophy
In Kant and Modern Political Philosophy, Katrin Flixau explores the relevance of Kant's political thought to the major issues and problems of contemporary political philosophy. She makes and argues two main points: Kant's philosophy of right recognizes the role of metaphysics in political thought, in contrast to the prevailing hostility towards metaphysics in the field today; Kant's discourse on political duty is cosmopolitan from the outset, giving priority to global rather than domestic contexts. She elaborates on how Kant's "freedom as a common idea of practical reason" underpins the worldwide scope of his theory of justice, and concludes that, despite the revival of "Kantianism" in contemporary thought, Kant's account of justice differs significantly from the prevailing approach of contemporary liberal theory in many ways. Her research will inspire political philosophers, political theorists, and historians of thought.
About the author
Katrin Frisch is a renowned contemporary Kant scholar, Fellow of British College, has taught at the University of Essex, the University of Bristol, the University of Manchester, and since 2003, Professor of political theory at the London School of Economics. His research interests include Kantian practical philosophy, contemporary political philosophy, and modern African philosophy. His books include Kant and Modern Political Philosophy (2000), Freedom: Contemporary Liberal Perspectives (2013), and What Is the Positioning of Global Thinking: A Kantian Inquiry (2017). He also co-edited, with Leia Ipi, Kant and Colonialism: Historical and Critical Perspectives (2015).
