"The Woman in My Soul" 【 Content Introduction 】
"When I was in kindergarten, I became a feminist."
Having watched her mother, who had been abandoned by her father, raise three young children on her own without a job and being "judged", Allende was determined to fight for the life her mother could not have.
Nearly 80 years old, she wrote a book of life experiences and reflections, recalling three passionate marriages, talking about the inconvenience of aging and new knowledge, denouncing gender violence under the patriarchal society, in order to pay tribute to "those lovely and great women" in her life: The mother who challenges the rules of society, the young artist who gathers the spirit of rebellion, the anonymous woman who suffers violence but maintains her dignity and courage...
What nourishes the soul of all women? Feeling safe, valued, gender equal, in control of your body and your life, and most importantly: being brave enough to love and be loved.
