作者简介
邓敏灵（1974—）
出生于加拿大温哥华，父母是马来西亚华裔。曾在加拿大西蒙弗雷泽大学学习现代舞，后入不列颠哥伦比亚大学学习文学。
二〇〇一年推出首部短篇小说集，迅速在国际文坛大放异彩，赢得加拿大四项文学大奖，并进入英联邦作家奖最佳处女作奖决选。其长篇小说《确然书》手稿完成后不到一个月即售出美国、英国、意大利、荷兰等十六国版权，二〇〇六年出版后成为加拿大年度畅销书，获《环球邮报》最佳图书提名；她凭此力作与村上春树、布克奖得主的印度作家基兰·德赛一起入围美国桐山文学奖决选名单。二〇一六年，长篇小说《不要说我们一无所有》获加拿大总督文学奖和吉勒奖，入围布克奖。

Bullet Train, the first book by Chinese-Canadian author Deng Minling, originally titled Simple Recipes, is seven short stories about seven immigrant families whose generational differences, cultural barriers, and conflicting values create cracks: A young woman keeps going back in time, tracing key moments when her family lost faith and fell apart; Two sisters crouch outside their former house, hoping their long-lost mother will reappear; A daughter recalls the moment her admiration for her father crumbles: he can perform delicious miracles with simple recipes, but he can't work the same magic on his rebellious teenage son, and an argument escalates into violent punishment. Because of the mature ideas beyond the author's actual age, simple and sophisticated writing, the book won four Canadian literary awards, entered the Commonwealth Writers Award for best First novel shortlist, and won the praise of Nobel Prize winner Alice Munro.
About the author
Deng Minling (1974 -)
Born in Vancouver, Canada, to Malaysian Chinese parents. He studied modern dance at Simon Fraser University in Canada and then literature at the University of British Columbia.
In 2001, he released his first collection of short stories, which quickly became an international success, winning four Canadian literary awards and being shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers' Award for Best First Novel. His novel "Book of Certainty" manuscript was completed less than a month after the sale of the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands and other 16 countries Copyrights, published in 2006 became the best seller of the year in Canada, the Globe and Mail "best book nomination; Her book was shortlisted for the Kiryama Literary Award in the United States along with Haruki Murakami and Booker Prize-winning Indian author Kiran Desai. In 2016, the novel "Don't Say We Have Nothing" won the Governor General's Literary Award and the Giller Prize and was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize.
His novels and stories have been translated into more than 20 languages, and his articles have appeared in Granta, The Guardian, The Financial Times and other newspapers.
