From the Consumer Society to the poor Society
This book is a transcript of the conversation between Chizuko Ueno, a world-renowned feminist theorist, and Miura, the first person to study the consumer industry in Japan. Two leading sociologists have made a penetrating analysis of the evolution from a consumer society to a society of inequality.
Japan, which peaked in the 1980s as a mass consumer society, has gone through the collapse of the bubble economy and globalization, and has gradually become a poor society. The so-called grid society refers to the formation of strict social class division among the people, and the gap between different classes in economy, education and social status is constantly increasing and the phenomenon of class solidification. In this book, the two scholars interpret a series of social problems in the process of Japan's transformation from a consumer society to a poor society, such as the phenomenon of fewer children, failed dogs, people at the bottom of society, layoffs, working poor, NEEts, etc., and deeply analyze the ideological distortion of Japanese society and the change of Japanese values behind the problems.
This book has a good warning significance and reference value for China, which has also entered the consumer society track.
